Facilities Use Fees Presentation
The Facilities Use Fees Presentation highlighted the district's facility use fees, which have remained unchanged for nearly 13 years. In collaboration with Facilitron, the fees were evaluated to ensure they align with those of neighboring districts and municipal facilities, aiming to cover operational costs.
The presentation delivered by district staff and Facilitron outlined the outcomes of this fee analysis. In response, the Board expressed interest in further details and requested additional information to be provided at the June 18 meeting. This item will encompass proposed plans, including incremental fee adjustments tailored to accommodate specific facility cost increases. Furthermore, it will introduce a conceptual maintenance plan, specifically targeting field maintenance, to ensure the long-term upkeep of district facilities.
Technology Replacement Cycle
The Board approved agreements aligned with the technology replacement cycle for the District to procure technology.
The District’s agreement with Dell Marketing L.P. provides a range of computer equipment at fair, competitive prices that are deemed suitable for the district's needs. The fiscal impact estimates annual expenditures of $50,000, with flexibility depending on district requirements and funding availability.
Additionally, the district is implementing Apple computer technology to align with its strategic educational goals. With the conclusion of previous technology investments through Measure Q funding, there's a need for a sustainable plan. Challenges include inconsistent display technology (space-board vs interactive flat panels), replacement cost, repair, connectivity, and reliability, which are addressed by transitioning from aging Chromebooks concluding their life cycle to Apple iPad.
The tentative timeline for Apple iPad implementation under the Technology Replacement Cycle is: Seacliff and Smith (2024-2025), Eader and Peterson (2025-2026), Hawes and Sowers (2026-2027), Moffett and Dwyer (2027-2028). Staff will be provided professional development and technical support through a combination of Apple trainers, district TOSAs, and Technology Services staff. Apple Computer technology for students and teachers at Seacliff and Smith (2024-2025) will be funded from the Arts & Music block grant (AMIM), with future replacement cycles to be considered for financing options. Purchases at schools will be incorporated into the district's technology replacement cycle and budgeted accordingly.
