Amendment to Warehouse Lease Agreement
In April 2020, the Board of Trustees approved a lease for a 24,500-square-foot warehouse at 16072 Gothard Street in Huntington Beach. This space became necessary to house the District’s Transportation and Maintenance and Operations (M&O) departments after they were relocated due to the construction of the Gym and STEM buildings at Dwyer Middle School.
The original lease was for five years, from May 1, 2020, to April 30, 2025. Due to delays in finding a permanent bus storage facility, the District has negotiated an extension of the lease.
The District has been working with local partners for over five years to find a permanent location for the bus storage facility. In the meantime, the District seeks to extend the lease for three more years, maintaining the current rent for the first year and continuing with 3% annual increases after that. The lease's yearly cost is $363,984. The District will also continue to cover maintenance and repair costs, which are paid from the General Fund.
Approval is recommended for the Assistant Superintendent of Administrative Services to finalize and execute the amendment as outlined.
